This past weekend OC Select Basketball made it to two finals games in 2 divisions! Our 13u Platinum team played up in the top 14u division and went 4-0 taking out teams that are considered power houses. Our players stepped up to the challenge and played basketball, not street ball! On the other end our 13u Black came in as runner ups losing to an aggressive Long Beach Gold!

The 13u Platinum team has contributions from everyone which created a nightmare¬† for opposing teams. Our power forward Wil came up huge defensively and offensively with monster boards and taking the opposing big man off the dribble from the high post while in two instances dunking over the defense. Amit dazzled us again with his 3pt shooting and blew open a semi final game in the opening minutes of the second half. Donny pg relentlessly controlled our offense and kept our team calm and collected throughout the entire tournament, while playing stifling defense.¬† Our new addition Nick was a monster on the boards on was unstoppable off the bounce. Veteran Rajeet came into his own this weekend hitting key shots using the fundamental he was taught and made a huge impact! Our back up pg from San Diego Ben, let the pack with his long range 3’s and aggressive defense ignoring the fact that he is undersized. Our sharp shooter Corey was a solid presense on the floor and did his job while with a plus minus of +4. Our top 2 guard was out with sprained wrist but we had him in spirit.

Our 13u Black team was led by our returning pg Isaac who hit a game winner in our semi final game after a tough 1st day of play. Corey our sharp shooter his big 3s through the tournament keeping his team in it at all times. Cole was blocking and rebounding animal. There was NO ONE in the tournament who could match his intensity. Sam controlled the pace of the game when he was called upon and had key assists and baskets when needed. Our off guard Steven once again his big shots to keep us either leading the charge or making come backs. Our lefty Josh had a monster game 2 scoring 14 points and leading the team to a 1-1 record. Pg Ben dazzled with his handles on court presence hitting acrobatic shots through the tournament.
